They earn their money by sending targeted promotional e-mails on behalf of their vendors to people who knowingly signed on to earn points by receiving promotional e-mails of preference specified categories. It is even possible to ban promotions of specific vendors. It is important to note that MyPoints does not give any vendor your e-mail address. It is necessary, however, to use the same e-mail address when taking advantage of a promotion.
I have never had any problems redeeming points and the gift certificates have always arrived well before the promised date I believe this is a Win-Win situation because legitimate vendors get their word out to people who are willing to listen.
